FAQ

Is the Statcounter javascript file gzip compressed?

Yes - the Statcounter javascript file is gzipped.

Every resource on the web has a "header" attached to it that contains extra information about the content it is delivering. Here is the header information for the StatCounter javascript file. Note that the Content-Encoding is marked as gzip.

    Server: PWS/1.7.1.1
    X-Px: ht fra-ti2-n35.panthercdn.com
P3P: policyref="https://www.statcounter.com/w3c/p3p.xml", CP="ADMa OUR COM NAV NID DSP NOI COR"
    ETag: "4948cb-1e50-4cd903fa"
    Cache-Control: max-age=43200
    Content-Length: 2644
    Content-Type: application/x-javascript; charset=utf-8
    Content-Encoding: gzip
    Vary: Accept-Encoding
    Px-Uncompress-Origin: 7760
You can verify this here using Web Sniffer, an online service which allows you to view the header information of the javascript file.

Or here, using the HTTP Compression Test which again confirms that the StatCounter javascript file is gzipped.

Note that although our servers support gzip, if your browser is not gzip compatible, then the javascript file will default to its uncompressed form.
